Come tomorrow and we will have been home a whole week and I am only just getting to do a new post now. With the backlog of emails to answer, holiday washing, orders I recieved while away had to be packed up and sent. Thankyou to those people that had to wait for me to get home before posting your order.
we had a wonderful time it took me the first couple of days to wind down and relax but then I really got into it. I took stitching work with me to do and I didn't even do much of that. Lots of sitting around drinking champange (with stitching sitting close by just incase I had the urge to pick it up.). Catching up with Adelaide friends who dropped down to Brighton for a meal with us.
We did this at least twice a day, heading off to the beach.......
(thats my Dad with the kids)
walking along the beach to find the PERFECT spot.
The kids did HEAPS of jumping off this pile of sand which was kindly dumped there before our holiday. It provided hours of free entertainment. Our guys in the front with a couple of friends.
And one last photo, being the 505 worlds we watched just a little bit of this.....
Met some great people from all over. Two American couples staying two cabins up from us were great and of course have said if we are ever on the east coast to catch up with them. I gave them some of the postcards, so if you stumble across my blog HI to Barb, Henry, Sarah and Doug.
We also met a lovely couple from Denmark, who we would talk to each day. We had no idea how he was going in the sailing until one day near the end we asked " How did you go today?" He said," very good we got a 1st and a 3rd today" ( in his lovely accent) We thought OHHHHH your GOOD!!!!
So this gentleman Jan ended up winning the whole event. We won't talk about were K came but lets just say it was a huge learning curve!!! But he didn't come last and he really enjoyed being involved in an international event.
Soooooo speaking of the postcards I bet your all dying to know how the cold calling went. Well you know with 4 kids and K out sailing every day it was a bit hard to find the time.......OKAY OKAY.... I chickened out!!!!!
Well sort of. I did manage to get the kiosk right on the beach at Brighton to take them he thought they were great. Also the patchwork shop on Jetty road took them too, Patchwork by sea.
Other than that I went down the street to ask at some other cafes and this is where the chickening out comes into play. All the places were soooooo busy at all times of day so I thought they would just tell me where to go. I did ask a couple of gift/card type places but they didn't want to know me. I think they just get all their stuff from Hallmark and be done with it. So I decided thats not where I want them anyway. The quirky little kiosks and such are the way to go. I am also going to take Leannes advice and contact a lot of patchwork shops in beach suburbs. So if anyone knows of any that would be great.
Now speaking of Leanne I was having a big catch up read of her blog and saw that ages ago she tagged me for the 6 weird things. So I thought I had better do it.
1. I don't think this is weird at all but it always gets a big reaction. I have always liked tomato sauce on my pancakes. Its like savory man!!! whats the big deal????
2. I am fanatical about my island bench in my kitchen being clear. The rest of the house can be like a bomb has hit it, but as long as my bench is clear I'm happy!
3. At the nursery I have this thing about buying two of every plant. Not because I am worried that one will die, or to plant them together in the gardern, quite often I don't. If one does die I don't feel the need to replace it. Its just at the point of purchase I need two. I can curb this if the plant is expensive or I KNOW there is only room in the garden for one. BUT I have to really concentrate or have a sensible friend with me!!!
I don't think you have to prove your weirdness with photos but here are some of the ones that DID get planted together!!
Went a bit extra crazy on this day!!! They are surposed to be round, haven't had hair cuts for a while but Hay I've been at the beach!!
4. I only enjoy a bath for the first 30 seconds. No REALLY only 30 seconds. I keep forgetting this and having baths then I have to force myself to stay in there because I don't want to waste the water. Then I bucket it onto some plants and think WHY did I do that...
5. When I get a new craze on a food I will eat it every day for about 2 weeks. Then I don't have it again for a year or more.
Thats it for me . Everything else I do is completely normal. Although if I could be bothered asking some of the people around me I'm sure they would come up with a few.
I am not going to tag anyone because I am so way late in doing it I think everyone is done!
While away I did manage to do a small embriodery, but I just realized I haven't photographed it yet. I'll come back and add a photo later.
Cheers.
