It has taken me SOOOOOOO long to get back here!!! So whats my excuse this time........you know I have always got one!
Well not long after my last post I put my paper work in to do some TRT (temporary relief teaching) You remember those poor relief teachers that everyone loved to give a hard time to!!! YEP thats me.
Well ever since I put my hand up I have been working more than not. Its great money and being back out in different schools is great BUT it is REALLY hampering my creative self. I am feeling a little stressed about not finding the time to do anything creative or even to do a post!!! Anyway today I am home YEAH!!! I am going to have to find a balance because all work and no painting, stitching, sewing etc, makes Kirsty a grumpy girl!
I haven't been saying no to some of the work because of a trip to Melbourne soon with my good friends, who just happen to be a couple of Tarts. I really need to be cashed up for that trip with all that shopping and food............Can't wait.
I have actually been doing some other stuff besides teaching. A couple of weeks ago I had our mothers group out here for a craft night. Quite a hard thing to plan for when some of the Mums are not that crafty, and very varied tastes. So I deliberated over it until the last minute then decided to Make Bertie bears. Which is a little bear Marion makes, hes very popular and I thought he would appeal to most. This night took a bit of organizing with supper, cleaning the house, I cut out all the pattern pieces AND sewed them all together so when the girls arrived all they had to do was start turning thru the pieces and begin stuffing. How nice of me!!!!! Lucky I did all that preparation because we where still here at 11pm. I had eight girls turn up and a few stayed till the end and got their bears finished, heres a not so good photo, you know what its like at night with the flash!!
A little WIP I have also been working on. This project had to come to school with me one day because I had a deadline.
So there I was at recess and lunch sewing on sequins!!
Here's Ms B all ready to go on stage.....lucky no one could see the stitching quality from down in the audience.
Waiting backstage between routines. Great concert but I am glad not all my girls want to do Calisthenics, I would be doing sequins all year!!!
OH YEAH I nearly forgot to mention I have a new Punch needle project in the current Homespun. The Rustic Tart girls also have a project in the same issue, how cool is that! <
Its cool to have a project published and thank you to all those people who sent emails to say that you loved the pattern. Sorry I haven't had the chance to reply to them all.
AND THE REALLY BIG (or little as it may be) NEWS IN OUR HOUSE IS........................................
NEW PUPPY!!!!!!! His name is Pepper and he is just the most adorable thing and I am not even a dog person really. Which is funny because it was my idea to get him!!!! What the!!!!
Our Family had a absolutely fantastic two nights in a great Hotel in Adelaide two weeks ago. It was my Aunty and Uncles joint 60th and they along with their children, grandchild and my parents had the penthouse and we had our own room on the same floor. It was just the most relaxing couple of days. Just swimming in the pool, reading new books I had just got from Amazon (more about them later). K went down and had an hour long massage. We had the best food and too much Champagne. I could just rave on and on about it.
So because we had our babysitters up the hall in the penthouse K and I decided to go for a walk up Jetty Road AND thats when I saw the puppy. I couldn't stop thinking about how the kids would just love him etc...etc.. But he was expensive and K wasn't overly keen. He kept reminding me about all the bad stuff like wee and poo on the carpet.
But as you can see we got the dog, even snuck him up to our room and he peed on the hotel carpet.....Naughty.
But hes been just delightful, a good pick. Yes he is piddling EVERYWHERE, but slowly learning about "on the paper" he'll get there. Even K is glad we've got him now.
Here are the troops enjoying the spa in our room with just a little bubble bath added, such fun the bubbles eventually filled the whole bathroom. The stuff you let them do when you don't have to clean up the mess.
I have also been tagged (ages ago) by Nette and Michelle over at the The Primitive Pear. So Sorry I haven't done it yet, but I haven't forgotton. I am just a bit hopeless, next post I promise.
One last thing before I sign off for today. I have got an great job lined up next term. There are eight Japanese students coming to our local high school for three weeks. So I will soon be organising a curriculum (and teaching it) for them while they are here. I can do a lot of crafty and arty stuff with them but I also have to teach them some english aswell, that should be interesting!! More about this later (when I know more!!)
